By studying their discourse samples, including speeches, media appearances, and public statements, this study aims to elucidate the methods by which these populist leaders construct and manipulate identity-based narratives to advance their political agendas. This study draws on various academic literature and empirical evidence to analyse the discourse strategies used by Farage and Subianto to mobilise support, build collective identity, and attract political voters. Through this critical analysis, this study aims to help people gain a deeper understanding of the complex interaction between populism and identity politics, and reveal its broader impact on the contemporary global political landscape. Despite having different national backgrounds, this study believes that the discourse samples in both cases reflect similar discourse strategies, including politicising specific issues, shaping identity oppositions, and reinforcing narratives of crises.
