Dementia primarily affects cognitive processes and is both irreversible and incurable, making managing the condition and supporting patients a priority. Person-centred care is one of the more effective strategies to help those with dementia, as it focuses on the individual rather than the condition. PEAR is a system to support caregivers at care centres administering such care. The system provides features like schedule and patient information management to help increase caregiver productivity and thereby maximize the quality of care being received by patients. PEAR is available through a mobile application, designed for the on-the-go daily tasks of a caregiver, as well as a web application, for more in-depth tasks. In this project, the objective of frontend developers is to improve and optimize the user interface and experience of the mobile application and implement features that will be of help to caregivers. This includes novel as well as existing features from the web app that are yet to be implemented on the mobile application. Errors and inconsistencies in the application’s interface and code must be identified and resolved to avoid major project delays and critical issues. This requires a combination of hands-on manual testing of the application, as well as automated end-to-end testing to ensure the application’s integrity. Refactoring and reorganizing existing code to maximize code quality, readability, and maintainability may be required as well. Finally, it is important to understand that the system has been in development for several years already, and will be taken over by a new batch of developers for continued development. Thus, ensuring good development practices and consistent documentation must be made one of, if not the highest priority of the project.
