Summary:In recent years, there has been a growing trend of cloud migration and a reliance on serverless computing. Furthermore, there is a growing demand for edge computing, where cloud computing resources are decentralised. Computation and storage are located closer to the end users. While there are many enterprise solutions available, this project seeks explore and develop upon an open-source platform: vHive, which allows researchers to look into the software stack of a modern serverless platform. This project will build on the current infrastructure by adding another open-source project called OpenYurt for edge node management into vHive, where further research of cloud-edge system can be done. Additionally, a multi-function chain benchmark will be added into vSwarm, a benchmark suite part of vHive ecosystem, giving users a standard to compare for the same given use case.
