Description
Summary:The concept of a gliding car has long captured the imagination of engineers, with the closest concept being the hovercraft. Hovercraft, also known as air-cushion vehicles (ACVs), is a unique representation for utilizing an air cushion to glide over surfaces. Their ability to glide across surfaces have been widely adopted by the commercial, military, transportation and recreational sectors. Their design process is quite similar to that of a boat and an aircraft, which will be further elaborated in this report. In this paper, we will explore the historical development, working principles of the hovercraft, and how one can better understand it, through the development of a working prototype.
