Description
Summary:With the increasing trend in the aviation industry driven by economic growth and globalization led to a demand for air traffic that poses a challenge and opportunity in terms of environmental sustainability. Introducing electric motors in aviation is one approach to mitigate environmental impact of air travel. The demand for lightweight and high performance electric motor in aviation has spurred interest in advance motor designs capable of delivering exceptional torque density while meeting stringent weight and size constraints. This study evaluates the design considerations and performance characteristics and trade-offs associated with axial and radial flux motors. A comparative analysis will be conducted in highlighting the strengths and limitations of both Axial and Radial flux motors, aiding in informed decision making for the selection and optimization of electric motors in aviation.
