Low-voltage low-power compressor design

Compressors are basic building blocks in many applications, crucial in performing partial product summation in computational intensive processors. This report presents various types of currently existing low voltage, low power n:2 compressors, including 3:2, 4:2, 5:2, 6:2, and 7:2compressors. Differ...

This report presents various types of currently existing low voltage, low power n:2 compressors, including 3:2, 4:2, 5:2, 6:2, and 7:2compressors. Different configurations of each architecture are prototyped and simulated in detail to evaluate their performance in speed, power consumption and power efficiency. In addition, this report proposes a 7:2 compressor design which reduces the critical path delay by 50% with low power consumption. The purpose of this report is to summarize the knowledge and skills the student has gained from the project, as well as in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of bachelor in Nanyang Technological University.
