From offshore platform to onshore refinery, the distance between can goes up to hundreds of Kilometres. This pipeline is normally constructed by welding shorter pipe together. During this process, defects such as cracks and porosity cannot be avoided due to environmental effects and bending stress. This defect is critical as it way affect the lifespan of the pipe. Over times, this may lead to fracture in the pipes. Normally, the crack may grow faster due to various force and pressure such as linear force, bending moment and hydrostatic pressure experience by it.
