Description
Summary:The propulsion system of a ship consists of engine and motor with the propeller playing the primary role in providing thrust to maneuver the vessel. The efficiency and performance of the ship will be heavily dependent on the design of the propeller. With thorough analysis using the systematic series design method, this project aims to develop a software to determine the optimum propeller diameter and speed. The deliverables of this project will provide insight on the step-by-step analysis to find the ideal propeller diameter and speed. In addition, it also includes the material selection, cavitation check and propeller performance by analyzing the delivered power produced at various ship speed. The capabilities of the designed software will enable user to design their 4-bladed, 5-bladed, and even 6-bladed propeller. User will have to input the ship design requirements such as the operating ship speed, number of propeller blade, wake factor and so on.
