Summary: | Rising manpower costs and a shortage of manpower are several problems faced by the food
and beverage industry. How eateries and restaurants can streamline their operation to
improve efficiency is important to reduce operational costs and ensure a smooth business
operation.
As such, a service robot is designed and developed for the use of assistance in restaurants.
Automated Guiding Vehicles (AGV) technology will be used for the manoeuvring of service
robots. Mechanical and electrical mechanisms are used to deliver food directly to the tables
without the need for human intervention.
This report will focus on a study of the functional needs of restaurant owners and the diners. A
morphological study of the required functions is used to determine three concepts. An
evaluation matrix rates each concept based on a weighted evaluation criterion. The concept
with the highest evaluation score is designed and developed to form the final service robot. |
