Description
Summary:Synthetic fiber-reinforced polymer composites are widely used in many applications across different industries for their superior properties over traditional materials. Such composites include carbon and glass fibers. Their rigidity and high strength-to-weight ratio make them a popular choice for a variety of applications, such as the aerospace and automotive industries. However, there is a shift in the industry to find an alternative material to combat the environmental problems caused by the manufacturing and disposal of synthetic fiber-reinforced composites. Research on natural fiber-reinforced composites are ongoing to potentially replace the traditional synthetic ones for a greener environment. This is because they have good qualities for the environment, such as being abundant and biodegradable. In general, composites reinforced with synthetic fibers often have better mechanical properties than those reinforced with natural fibers. However, there is still room for research on natural fiber-reinforced composites and their mechanical properties to find for specific applications. This report will see to research the various tensile properties of natural fiber-reinforced composite such as open-hole and compare it with the synthetic fiber-reinforced composite.
