Summary: | Mid-infrared laser operating at 2μm has gained extensive research attention over the years in
area such as free space communication, medical and gas sensing. For mid-IR gas detection,
quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) offer excellent sensitivity; nevertheless, their complicated
construction and high-cost present difficulties. Alternatively, 2μm GaSb quantum well (QW)
lasers are more cost-effective and easier to manufacture, which makes them a desirable option
for widespread use in gas sensing applications. In this project we will be using Gallium Indium
Antimonide (GalnSb) as our quantum well material. |
