With the development of new technology, innovations such as smart systems are created. Smart systems can be used to increase the efficiency of existing systems and allow certain tasks to be automated. One of the implementations of smart systems would be in the lighting industry. Smart lighting systems can aid in safety and security, improve accessibility and increase efficiency. These smart lighting systems can benefit the elderly as it is convenient, increase safety, are cost-efficient and provide hassle-free living conditions for them. The aim of this project is to design and implement a smart home lighting system for the elderly that is not complicated, accessible and cost-efficient. This project can be divided into two segments. A Real-Time Locating System (RTLS) for the tracking of the elderly within the house and an Arduino implementation of LED control which automatically turns on and off using RTLS. To aid in this project, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) will be used for communication between devices as well as to increase the efficiency of the LED control. This would ensure that the light is turned on only when needed to reduce the power consumption. To conclude, this project helps to further explore the possibility of using smart home lighting systems to improve the living conditions of the elderly. Lighting is an essential component in our day-to-day lives. With the development of new
technology, innovations such as smart systems are created. Smart systems can be used to increase
the efficiency of existing systems and allow certain tasks to be automated. One of the
implementations of smart systems would be in the lighting industry. Smart lighting systems can
aid in safety and security, improve accessibility and increase efficiency. These smart lighting
systems can benefit the elderly as it is convenient, increase safety, are cost-efficient and provide
hassle-free living conditions for them. The aim of this project is to design and implement a smart
home lighting system for the elderly that is not complicated, accessible and cost-efficient.
This project can be divided into two segments. A Real-Time Locating System (RTLS) for the
tracking of the elderly within the house and an Arduino implementation of LED control which
automatically turns on and off using RTLS. To aid in this project, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
will be used for communication between devices as well as to increase the efficiency of the LED
control. This would ensure that the light is turned on only when needed to reduce the power
consumption.
To conclude, this project helps to further explore the possibility of using smart home lighting
systems to improve the living conditions of the elderly. |
