‘Odyssey!’ serves as a commentary on the contradiction in Singaporean society; capturing this current generation’s social landscape through 5 painting-like photographs. Living in the post-pandemic world, the underlying tensions within different racial and social communities resurface after issues such as the treatment of migrant workers, the repeal of 377A, and the presidential elections have been brought to light. The exploration of social issues through narratives and contemporary imagery seeks to address the complexity of our society’s relationship with privilege, meritocracy and racial disparity. It offers a visual interpretation of the reality that our society experiences, questioning whether the values of justice, equality, democracy, peace and progress that the country upholds are consistent amongst its people.
