Summary: | Organisations must adapt and innovate as the industry grows and becomes more competitive, especially in times of uncertainty. The importance of leadership has never been more critical for the success of projects and organisations. Collaborating with teams that possess a variety of skill sets and personalities require delicate handling, as leaders must function as catalysts in enhancing intrinsic team motivation.
A matrix structure organisation focuses on the design, which incorporates the unique and complex nature of the multi-leader system. There exists a research gap relating to the impact of multiple leaders in an organisation in fostering a motivated team. Therefore, this research aims to provide a better understanding of how project managers can shape and adapt their leadership styles to improve team dynamics and achieve project and organizational success.
The major findings of the study are that :-
(a) Effective engagement of stakeholder is key in managing relationships between managers and team members.
(b) Team motivation can be achieved with effective leadership skillsets and approaches.
(c) Leaders must learn to adapt to the nuance of personnel in a matrix organisation.
The research concluded by presenting a feasible approach to managing hierarchies using appropriate methods and strategies such as enhanced communication plan and personnel development initiatives.
