Description
Summary:The project progress, research, and data of a wind turbine control system is summarized in this report, with main focuses on the process and development of the hardware and software components that is used to control the output electrical power supply of a wind turbine via the control of variable pitch angle. Wind turbine energy is one of the most popular alternative energy sources available today. The commonly used wind turbines are Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT), and the Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT). The HAWT wind turbine proves to be more efficient in electricity generation, and in a more controllable method. As such, various kind of control method has been used to control the generated output electrical power. A wind turbine has significant dynamic influence on connected power grid system. Hence, the wind turbine has to regulate its output power supply depending on the demand of the power supply. Hence, a variable pitch control system is implemented to take over such damping task. The aim of this entire project is to develop a wind turbine control strategy that is able to generate a stable output of electrical power to the grid system of the neighborhood.
