Description
Summary:In this report, we will look at various wireless communication techniques which can be used to optimize multimedia streaming and transmission. The main focus will be on the optimization of transmission technique associated with multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission of multimedia content. The report can be divided into two parts. In part 1 of the report, we will evaluate the performance of several wireless transmission and detection technique through simulation in matlab. We will look at the BER (Bit Error Rate) at various SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) as a gauge for the performance of the transmission technique. BER is an important metric which we can look at during the study of wireless communication performance. BER shows the rate at which the receiver receiving an erroneous bit. For transmission and detection technique, the BER will indicate the robustness of the technique. In part 2 of the report, we will look at the performance of the proposed transmission technique using actual multimedia files. We will simulate the transmission of H.264 AVC/SVC video file over the proposed transmission scheme. We will study the effectiveness and performance of the proposed transmission technique for H.264 AVC/SVC video files.
