The focus is placed on the development of the sensor and microcontroller board for processing the magnetic signal. Radio frequency modems are incorporated with the system to form the wireless sensor network system. In the literature review, details of magnetic sensor, earth’s magnetic field and the material to manufacture a vehicle are discussed. This will give the reader a clearer picture on the advantages of magnetic sensor over other systems. The report will also include the system overview of the project. The development of the sensor and microcontroller board for the transmission system, and the microcontroller board for the receiver system are discussed in detail. Connections between the elements in the system are provided in flowcharts. Schematics of the circuitry connections are provided. The software development encompasses a programme set up to process the magnetic sensor output. Programme for the receiver system is also generated. Tests have been carried out using different metal materials to evaluate the performance of the system. The prototype for the sensor and microcontroller board is continuously revised, and the outputs of the magnetic sensor are analyzed.
