Description
Summary:As the Singapore government started on reducing its control on the electricity market, more electricity retailers are entering the electricity market. The increased competition from the new retailers will promote the prices of electricity to be more competitive and consumers can expect better customer services. However the current system of tracking energy consumption using electro-mechanical meters is unable to meet the requirements of the new energy market in Singapore. Hence this project aims at the development of an intelligent trading meter billing system (ITMBS) to meet the requirements of the new deregulated power market environment. The Intelligent trading billing system is using Jennic wireless microcontroller, which will be used to replace the PIC microcontroller and Power line communication (PLC) modem. The Jennic microcontroller interfaces with energy ADE 7756 to obtain consumption information. Communications between server and intelligent meter is established using IEEE 802.15.4 standard wireless network. In this project, a database for the intelligent trading billing system has been created. Next the web interface where users can purchase from different retailers at real time pricing has also been set up. The report will start with the discussion on the background and scope of this project. Information on the factors that influence the development of an intelligent meter billing system (ITMBS) will also be discussed. The database design and the web interface will be then discussed. Lastly the problems involved and the recommendations will be covered.
