Design of a tunable HF antenna

This final year project involves the design of a tunable HF antenna. The antenna has been designed using High Frequency Structural Simulator (HFSS). Simulation results are presented in this report for discussion. This report introduces the designed tunable HF antenna. The designed monopole anten...

The antenna has been designed using High Frequency Structural Simulator (HFSS). Simulation results are presented in this report for discussion. This report introduces the designed tunable HF antenna. The designed monopole antenna consists of a vertical monopole antenna with 2 wires connected down to the ground via capacitors at each end of the wire. The coaxial cable is connected to the monopole antenna. In order to achieve the final design of the tunable HF monopole antenna, several steps are being implemented. The tunability function is achieved by changing the values of the capacitors and the characteristic impedance. This helps to achieve a better return loss and a wider bandwidth as the HF antenna are normally narrowband.
