Summary: | The Solar Powered Combined Ejector-Vapour Compression Cycle makes use of a dual purpose pre-cooler unit to connect the Ejector Refrigeration Sub-Cycles (ERSC) and the Vapour-Compression Sub-Cycles (VCSC). In this project, the student explored the functionality of the system that uses water as the refrigerant at the ERSC and R-134a as the refrigerant for the VSCS. Both are economically attractive and environmentally safe as they conform to all the ozone preserving regulations well. The project also covered the relationship between pressure and temperature, coefficient of performance as well as the advantages and disadvantages of using water as a refrigerant.
The second part of the project focused on software design of the ERSC. A detailed write-up on how to write the frequently used S-function block models is discussed. The work of past year students such as the advantage of using Higher Order Polynomial Equations and TableCurve2D to calculate the coefficient of fluid properties are also explored. A modification of the existing ERSC is done by changing the evaporator, condenser and electronic expansion valve block models with the models from the VCSC models. The new ERSC models will make use of lookup tables to call for fluid and component properties from three .MAT file database. Finally a pre-cooler unit is proposed for future work. |
