Description
Summary:Web-based Molecular Docking with Haptic Collaboration makes use of the advancement of the Internet technology, the visualization tool Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) and the haptic technology to create a computer simulation system for biomolecular study. In this cyber-lab, via internet environment, one can generate 3D biomolecular models using a web browser, simultaneously work with a haptic device to interact with the models, and feel the sense of ‘touch”. This report provides details on basic concepts of biomolecular interaction, visualization and haptic technology. The contents discuss mainly on Van der Waals interactions, how VRML/FVRML tools are used to visualize and enable haptic feature with haptic devices. Besides, the author demonstrates the web-application for molecular visualization using VRML with PHP and Apache HTTP server. He also gives a brief introduction of haptic implementation for molecular interaction together with suggestions for the project.
