Summary: | In the recent years, many researches had been done on point-of-care bioassay system,
people has been finding ways to improve the system in terms of its size, cost and even
the capability of the system. It is the speed at which the result of the sample can be
collected that induce people to research on this system whereby improvements had
been made such that the results can be out at a speed of 10 times faster than the last
technology whereby time taken is reduced from hours to minutes. Not only is people
interested in the speed, people are also interested in improving its size, its cost of
building and also the materials used.
In this study, we would be looking into the type of material that can be use to build the
micro-fluidic chip. We would test out the material that we have selected to see if it fits
our requirement in terms of chemical aspect. The reason why there is a need to look for
new material because the current material which is polystyrene is hard to fabricate and
brittle to handle. We had selected PMMA to be our replacement for polystyrene
because it is easy to fabricate and save cost; we are going to find out whether is there
any positive bonding between the antibody and our substrate in this report.
In this report, we had proven that there are positive bonding between the antibody and
our substrate using series of different chemicals which are mostly easily available in labs
in order to minimize the cost. Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) machine was used to
scan our sample for the final results. Images of the results will be shown the section of
result and discussion in proving of the positive bonding. |
