Description
Summary:The evolving 802.16 WiMAX standards offer the possibility of high data rate wireless access for home and business users. In this project, firstly literature review is done to tabulate the transmitter specifications of a WiMAX transceiver, and then optimization of a low voltage low power amplifier suitable for WiMAX application is performed. The power amplifier operates at 2.5GHz, with 1.8V power supply, and it is implemented in 0.18μm CMOS technology. This project focused on studying and optimizing a radio frequency power amplifier which meets the WiMAX requirements. In this report, the power amplifier performance metrics, classification of power amplifier operation, class A, class B, class AB and class C are introduced, efficiency enhancement and linearization techniques are studied. Finally, one WiMAX amplifier using Doherty amplifier configuration is selected for studying, and detailed optimization procedures and simulation results are also given.
