Description
Summary:The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of project managers’ emotional intelligence on project outcomes within Singapore’s Information Technology Industry. In other words, this research aims to find out if project managers need emotional intelligence to gain project success. Given the rapid growth of technology, artificial intelligence, and automation, the information technology industry is continuously evolving, and projects are becoming more complex and challenging to handle. Hard skills alone are insufficient to handle these projects. Therefore, this sparked interest in exploring the correlation between emotional intelligence and project success in the information technology sector. Moreover, there has not been much research done within Singapore’s information technology industry. In this context, project success refers to adherence to scope, timeliness, and budget, as well as maintaining stakeholders' expectations and engagement, and fostering team collaboration. To evaluate the research, a quantitative method was applied. A 4-point Likert-type survey, designed based on Daniel Goleman’s emotional intelligence theory, was used to target project managers with at least three years of experience. Google Forms was utilized to create the questionnaire. The implications of this research may assist in understanding the role of emotional intelligence in project management success. It could improve project outcomes by focusing on the right emotional intelligence factors, set guidelines for recruiting suitable candidates for project manager roles, and aid in developing project manager training programs.
