Description
Summary:Continuous phase modulations are used widely in practical communication system. It is because of its wide bandwidth efficiency and constant modulus property. They are also used in radio channels with nonlinear amplifiers as they allow exploiting the full amplifier power without any backoff. Therefore CPM has been getting a lot of attention in satellite channels. However, CPM signals have not been widely used so far because of receiver complexity and synchronization problems. In military-related applications, Modulation Classifications have been used for signal monitoring and interception. With the advances in adaptive modulation and reconfigurable communication systems, the deployment of digital modulation schemes in wireless communication systems, the types of modulation to be identified have increased, which include PSK, QAM, CPM and OFDM. By having a receiver that will be able to intercept an unknown CPM signals will greatly enhanced the military capability. The blind estimator is used to estimate unknown signal parameters of CPM signal to extract the transmitted information and to recognize the type of transmitter. The parameters for CPM signals which include the modulation index, symbol period, and frequency offset and timing offset.
