Stereo photo capture and display

An anaglyph image allows the perception of depth when a user viewed an image with a pair of red/cyan coloured glasses, which is also known as the anaglyph glasses. Although this has been regarded as an old method, the techniques used to generate anaglyph images are very empirical. Stereoscopic visua...

Although this has been regarded as an old method, the techniques used to generate anaglyph images are very empirical. Stereoscopic visualisation has been implemented into an increasing number of applications in recent few years. Many industries, including mining, scientific research, medical diagnosis and others have been able to build stereoscopic imaging into their workflow to improve productivity and gain better understanding of their work environments and dataset. With the advancement of technology and the decreasing cost of display technology, stereoscopic visualisation has definitely hit the consumer market well, where it may be used for home entertainment systems and/or computer gaming. This report describes the methodology used by the writer to capture two dimensional images, process the images and convert them into stereo images. After which, these pictures will be constructed to form anaglyph images. Various function codes will be used through this project to construct a software platform which ultimately is main control. Details of the proposed approaches to create anaglyph will be elaborated in this report.
