Description
Summary:This paper seeks to investigate the local concept of love through the development of the Singapore Concept of Love Scale, consolidating research on Chinese concepts of love and interview results on five local mother- and-daughter pairs. The advent of globalization may have rendered some of the love concepts old-fashioned while others continue to remain viable locally; this study aims to find generational differences in love concepts. Sixty-six pairs of mothers and daughters were recruited for the study. The daughters were found to score significantly higher in passion compared to their mothers. The mothers were found to endorse both traditional and modern love concepts while the daughters were found to endorse more modern than traditional love concepts.
