This report focuses on Final Year Project (FYP) design and development experience with project named "Web-based collaborative working environment (the mobile handheld device client part 2)". This Final Year Project provided me a new development environment PHP which I have not learnt in school curriculum before. It mainly consists of self-learning and comprehends by analogy. By using JavaScript and HTML associated with PHP, I am supposed to optimize Co-Office system and bring new ideas. The report provides an overview of features and functions, problem analysis, and the design and development approach of Co-Office system. Before the design process started, I explored several existing similar applications such as Google Docs and Face-book. I had thought of different ways to make the project alternatively including programming languages and development platform. I had also consulted and discussed with seniors and consultants. After that, with a better understanding, I positioned myself first and then started to work on my own defined project, which is client GUI and access control. Besides designing and developing system, I also interfaced with my teammates and professor to take their suggestions and feedback into account. This was to further meet clients' needs as well as to economize the resources when designing the system which is the mission of a technology specialist.
