Internet, through the World Wide Web, has become a new source of information. Information can be searched and gathered with various ways, ranging from the most primitive one like copy and paste to sophisticated tool such as Web Annotation.
The available web annotation tools are mostly designed for human communication and inference of automatic computer agents. These designs may not be appropriate in information gathering for intelligence reporting, or the so-called Web Intelligence. A Web Intelligence system provides a summary of the overall situation and can be used to answer questions relating to business intelligence.
Web Annotation for Web Intelligence (WAWI) is designed with the requirements above as the basis. It is also a context-aware Web annotation system where the annotation schema can be seen as metadata and it provides the mechanism to relate the metadata and the content of web document. |
