Description
Summary:Anaerobic biological processes are widely used in the treatment of domestic and industrial wastewaters. A mathematical model has been previously developed to simulate the dynamic behavior of mixing, substrate utilization and biomass growth in anaerobic filters. The model was constructed based on Monod kinetics, coupled with the appropriate inhibition functions and material balance equations. In this research, a series of laboratory study on an upflow anaerobic fixed-bed reactor, also known as the anaerobic filter, was carried out. Experimental data were used to calibrate the process parameters of the model as well as for verification purpose. In this research, a series of laboratory study on an upflow anaerobic fixed-bed reactor, also known as the anearobic filter, was carried out.
