Description
Summary:Computer-Aided Design and Drafting system has been exploited successfully in creating different types of structural drawing including slab drawings containing steel welded fabric. All the slab drawings are created in 2D format. They contain different types of welded fabric which are bent out-of-plane from the original fabric surface. Attempts to extract the fabric information automatically or semi-automatically from the 2D drawings have failed because majority of the fabrics are bent and twisted out-of-plane in a primary direction and secondary direction even more than once. It is also not possible to detail these bent welded fabrics in 2D format without producing sufficient sectional views. Valuable human resources has been wasted unnecessarily in extracting and transforming the useful information from these 2D drawings so that they can be used directly by the steel fabricators. Up-to-now, all the quantity of the welded fabrics have to be extracted manually and meticulously. This is extremely laborious and prone to error.
