Summary: | For a communications system to be considered a spread-spectrum system, it is necessary that the transmitted signal satisfies two criteria. First, the bandwidth of the transmitted signal must be much greater than the" message bandwidth. The second criterion is that the transmitted bandwidth must be determined by some function that is independent of the message and is known to the receiver. As a result, this bandwidth expansion does not combat white noise. However, it is useful in other applications such as interference rejection. |
