Summary: | The thesis addresses how information technology can be deployed with competitive advantage to the design and development of an experimental Integrated Hotel Guest System which integrates many common communication and media services, making them easily accessible to hotel guests via a single device. This device, named Digital GuestMate (DGM), is to be used by the guests within the comfort of their rooms. The DGM incorporated a number of common information and communication facilities, such as Television, digital video, Teletext, telephone, electronic mail and other information services. In addition, the guest can use the DGM to initiate requests for common hotel services, namely room services, bell services from the concierge and front office services. |
