Description
Summary:Electronic Design Automation (EDA) frameworks are seen to play an important role in electronic product development in the 1990s. This dissertation examines the roles of EDA frameworks. Issues relating to their functionalities, namely, design data management, tool/tool-run management, design methodology support, common representational database and inter-tool communication will be discussed. We will identify two types of frameworks -Tool Frameworks and Design Management Frameworks, and differentiate between them. This dissertation will also illustrate two currently available framework products - Design Framework II and Powerframe, and examine their functionalities. Finally, a framework for design management based on an object-oriented methodology will be proposed.
