Description
Summary:The first objective of the present study was to investigate the near-field flow structure of a lobed forced mixer with a semi-circular trailing edge. The near-field was defined at the region within five wavelengths (of the trailing edge profile) from the trailing edge. Mean flow and turbulence measurements were made on fine cross-plane grids across the wake region and at several downstream locations using a two-component laser-Doppler anemometer at a Reynolds number of 3.632x 104 and at a velocity ratio 0.6 across the lobes. Production of the turbulent kinetic energy existed in most part of the near-field enhancing the overall mixing process.
