Experimental and theoretical studies of two-phase flow partterns and plug-train system

Summary: | Flow pattern transitions for a two-phase air-water system flowing in a 10 m long, 25.4 mm diameter horizontal pipe had been studied with the help of a high speed video camera. Altogether 16 distinguishable flow patterns were identified. The experimental data were plotted on 12 flow pattern maps to validate their accuracy. It was found that the semi-mechanistic map by Taitel and Dukler, with modification by Barnea, had the highest degree of accurate prediction. |
