Description
Summary:The feasibility of developing a high strength high toughness Kevlar 29 fibre reinforced nylon 66 composite has been considered in terms of its interfacial properties. To achieve this, a proper understanding of the following has been developed: the effect of interfacial properties on the overall mechanical properties of a composite, a reliable model for the determination of interfacial parameters, the influence of testing configuration and specimen geometry on the determination of the interfacial properties, the effect of thermal and chemical treatment on the properties of the Kevlar 29 fibres, and the effect of thermal and chemical treatment of the fibres on the interfacial properties of the Kevlar-nylon composite system.
