Summary:Accurate flow rate measurement is of prime importance in many areas, e.g. combustion control, process control, gas or water flowmetering and plant monitoring. A type of fluidic flowmeter for volumetric flow rate measurement, known as the target fluidic flowmeter, was investigated. The principle of the flowmeter is based on fluid oscillations about a target with the oscillation frequency proportional to the flow rate over a wide Reynolds number range. The performance of the flowmeter depends greatly on its geometrical parameters. Lab based experimental techniques were used to determine important parameters controlling the performance of the flowmeter. The optimum dimensionless parameters of the target flowmeter were found to be :
