A body of the system is discretised into elements by using the finite element method based on the assumption of Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. Mathematical models are developed to define some common mechanical joints so that general constrained mechanical systems can be analysed. The general dynamics model developed is capable of handling flexible body systems undergoing large gross motion accompanied by linear elastic deformations.
