This project takes the view that the Chinese market is a relatively new market for the Singapore investors. Its political structure, and continuous economic reforms pose many problems to the unwary investor. Its laws and regulations differ from city to city which baffle the investor even further. Information on all these aspects is collected through desk research at the Trade Development Board, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce, The Institute of East Asian Philosophies, Hon Sui Sen Library, Nanyang Technological University Library, and National University Library. Information was also collected from the trade seminars on doing business in China and during the field trip to Wuhan and Chongqing on June 1994.
