Summary:The research tries to determine the key success factors for excellence performance of companies in Singapore. Top 50 privately-held enterprises as identified by Andersen Consulting, The Business Times and Economic Development Board in 1995 and 1996 formed the population for the research. These companies showed that they can excel even in the current highly competitive and high operation cost environment. Their excellent performances can be attributed to few key success factors that are common to all the successful companies. These key success factors (i.e., the six top) are found to be: i) A committed, supportive and strong management team ii) A strong, visionary and capable leadership iii) Adopting the correct strategy iv) Ability to identify and focus on market v) Ability to develop and sustain capability vi) A good customer and client relationship
