This dissertation is concerned with the issues surrounding the 'free versus fee' information services debate. There is still much confusion about the parameters of fee-based services and free services. This dissertation aims to clear some of the confusion and doubts. In addition, this dissertation looks at the impact of fee-based information services in Singapore and what implications await the Singapore information professionals. Lastly, this academic exercise will attempt to shed some light as to how Singapore libraries and information professionals can best approach and tackle the pricing issue.
