Summary: | Collision between a gas bubble and a rigid surface is a fundamental fluid mechanic process, both large (mm) and small (sub-micro). It is related to coalescence, bouncing of the bubble, boundary condition and film drainage. In industrial, it is used in bubble column and for bubble cleaning. I will be applying interference technique to study the drainage of liquid film during collision. When a bubble collide with a surface, the liquid in between the two surface is been squeezed, thus draining out. Interference technique has been used successfully in measuring thickness of thin film and Earth’s topography. However it has not been applied to measure drainage of liquid film before. Also I will be using high
speed camera to study the bounce of bubble. The objectives will be to design and setup the experiment. |
