The citations of each article sampled were studied carefully, and the total number of citations was noted. Next, the citations gathered were classified into different groups. The citations were analyzed by their age, average number of references per article, types of references — penodicals, monographs, patents, etc, percentage of self-citation, the top ten most referred journals at that time. There seems to be a slight difference over time, for example, there seems to be a drop in percentage of self-citation and an increase of the average number of references cited in the articles in each issue over the ten years. However, data were too limited for firm conclusions to be drawn.
