This dissertation looks at the preparation and implications of providing current awareness services in the scientific and technical fields, to researchers, scientists, engineers, industrial manufacturers, technologists etc, from the management perspective. Though the problems and challenges discussed in this dissertation as well as the suggestions and proposals raised are by no means exhaustive and may vary in different organisational environments, they serve as guidelines for any organisation thinking of embarking on a similar service. Besides incorporating ideas and issues from the research undertaken by my organisation, an information service provider, which are relevant to the objectives and purpose of my study, this dissertation draws on an extensive literature review.
