Description
Summary:This qualitative study is an attempt to uncover specific course-related information needs and highlight the relationship between demands of course curricula and the information seeking behaviour of a group of students undertaking a professional diploma in marketing with a private education institute. A combination of research methodologies were used to solicit variegated data related to the context of a group-based marketing assignment where students had to act the roles of problem solvers and decision makers. Nine categories of information seeking episodes were derived from part of the data obtained. The main types of information sought by students and their main sources of information consulted associated with the project were identified. In addition, general information needs within the framework of students' decision making process were suggested.
