Traditional investments in manufacturing equipment have been justified by analyzing the cost savings from the investment. However benefits of AMT lie in strategic areas such as better and more consistent quality, flexibility and responsiveness to changing demands, shorter lead times, timely delivery schedule and other benefits. These strategic benefits are difficult to quantify with traditional justification methods that most top management is familiar with, for example, the discounted cash flow (DCF) methods and non DCF methods. |
