Description
Summary:The objective of this report is to study and evaluate New Zealand Design code (NZS3101:2006) for Slender Reinforced Concrete. P-Delta method, BS8110:1997 Design method and transformation concept are also considered in this report. This report considers only pin-ended rectangular columns under uniaxial bending and short-term loading. The calculated failure loads are compared with the experimental values obtained from 34 columns by Cranston and 26 columns by Chuang and Kong (1997) and 6 columns from Chuang, Kong, SK and Kong, F.K, Column Series (2000). The range of compressive strength of concrete (fcu) and steel ratio (As/bh) are 24.7N/mm2 – 96.2 N/mm2 and 1.0% - 3.24% respectively.
