A web-based intelligent software package will also be developed to provide treatment recommendations to TCM practitioners. A review of 50 journals shows that in general, acupuncture is an effective form of treatment.
Due to limited research of acupuncture on urinary and reproductive system disease, only a total of 35 journals are reviewed. Although insignificant, the research does show that acupuncture treatment is effective for urinary and reproductive system diseases and should be considered as an alternative form of treatment.
The web-based intelligent consultation software system has been developed using a combination of four different scripting languages. Other than the good algorithm, a quality and comprehensive database consisting of 409 acupuncture points have been compiled.
This software acts as the interface between the user and the two databases. The key functionalities of the software is to allow users to browse the prescription and acupuncture point databases, perform an analysis of the prescriptions available, and to search for acupuncture points that are related to a specific disorder. Other than being user friendly, the software has been designed to dynamically update its output to reflect any changes in the database. |
