Summary: | This thesis is a representation study of love and desires in The New Women magazine (1926-1929). The thesis consists of four main chapters. First Chapter introduces the background of The New Women magazine, discusses the research value and significance of the topic. Chapter Two discusses the definition of love and desires, origin of asceticism and argues against asceticism. Chapter Three explores the meaning of chastity and discusses the relevant topics. Lastly, based on the definition of love, Chapter Four discusses the stand of The New Women magazine and introduces the ideas of Emma Goldman, Charles Albert, Edward Carpenter and Alexandra Kollontai from the magazine. |
